Deprecation of location tagging for Facebook and Instagram posts

Facebook has announced they plan to deprecate an API that is used for location searches by Falcon and other third-party platforms. Due to the loss of access to this API, Falcon is forced to deprecate the feature for tagging locations in Facebook and Instagram posts.

On November 2, 2020, the following will take effect in the Falcon platform:

  • Location tagging will become unavailable in the Publish Editor for Facebook and Instagram posts.
  • Existing posts that have been drafted, scheduled, or are waiting for approval, will still get published with their tagged locations.
  • Posts that have been published previously will not lose their location in Falcon nor on Facebook or Instagram.

We apologize for the inconvenience that the loss of this feature might cause. We are in contact with Facebook about alternatives, but for now we have been informed that the deprecation will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. We will inform you with further developments should the circumstances change.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your Falcon Customer Success Manager or our Support team.
