Tag locations in Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter posts

When creating a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram post in Publish, you can tag a location. Below, you can find instructions on how to go about this for each network.

Tagging Locations on Facebook and Instagram.

For Facebook and Instagram posts, there is no additional setup required.

How to tag a location on Facebook.

  1. Within Publish, select Create Post and choose your Facebook page.
  2. In the main editor, enter the text content of your post.
  3. To tag a location, click Add Location
  4. Select a location from the drop-down menu. The location will be added and you can see it in the post preview.
  5. Either schedule, publish or send your content for approval as usual.

Note:

It is possible to tag one location per post, and it works for all supported post formats, except for Album posts.

How to tag a location on Instagram.

  1. Within Publish, select Create Post and choose your Instagram page.
  2. In the main editor, enter the text content of your post.
  3. To tag a location, click Add Location
  4. Select a location from the drop-down menu. The location will be added and you can see it in the post preview.
  5. Either schedule, publish or send your content for approval as usual.

Note:

It is possible to tag one location per post, and it works for all supported post formats, except for Stories.

Note:

Because of Instagram's Security Policy, we can only display the location of published posts that were created in Falcon. Therefore, if the post was created with another tool, or in the Instagram mobile app, we are not able to show the tagged location for the published post.

Tagging locations on Twitter posts.

Because of Twitter's Security Policy, they ask their users to specifically enable location tagging on Twitter natively. After enabling this, you can tag locations in your Twitter posts from inside Falcon.

How to enable Twitter location tagging.

  1. Go to twitter.com and login with your account.
  2. Click on the account name on the left side, which opens the left-side menu bar.
  3. Navigate to: Settings and privacy > Privacy and safety > Location information
  4. Make sure that the option “Add location information to my Tweets” is enabled.

Warning:

If this option is not enabled, Falcon won’t be able to tag the location you picked for your post.

How to tag a location on Twitter.

  1. Within Publish, select Create Post and choose your Twitter page.
  2. In the main editor, enter the text content of your tweet.
  3. To tag a location, click Add Location
  4. Select a location from the drop-down menu and the location will be added. Twitter doesn’t display the location in the account feed, so Falcon.io display the selected location under the tweet preview.
  5. Either schedule, publish or send your content for approval as usual.

Note:

It is possible to tag one location per tweet, and it works for all supported tweet formats.

Note:

When tagging the same location in for multiple posts, the returned locations could slightly differ for each channel you create the post for. Facebook and Twitter's algorithms automatically try to return relevant results based on the channel's location and other characteristics.
