Exporting Listen Projects

Whether you would like to gather the feedback about a campaign, collect mentions of a brand in the news, or discover common demographics and trending phrases, exporting Listen data is a great way to maximize your brand’s utilization of user-generated content.

When you open a Listen Project, you will have the option to select from four different views: Insights, Comparison, Monitoring, and Mentions. All views except for Monitoring View can be exported individually. In Insights View, you can also choose to either export individual tabs or all tabs together. Find out more about the different views in Listen here.

Note:

The information in this article relates to the classic version of the Listen module. For help exporting mentions in Listen | Powered by Brandwatch, please visit the guide here.

What Export Formats are Available in Listen?

In Listen, it’s possible to export your data as a CSV, XLS, or PDF file. The graph below shows the available exporting formats for each view in Listen.

Insights View
Comparison View
Monitoring View
Mentions View

Note:

When exporting from Insights View, you will have the option to choose between the current tab you’re looking at (e.g., Overview, Trending, or Demographics) or the entire Insights View report. For either option, you can still export as a CSV, XLS, or PDF file.

Exporting Listen Projects as a CSV or XLS File

As shown in the graph above, you can export your project’s Insights View as a CSV or XLS file, and your Mentions View as a CSV file. To get started, please follow the steps below:

  1. In Listen, open any existing Project.
  2. Using the Current View dropdown at the top of the page, select either Insights or Mentions.
  3. Select the context menu (three dots) from the top, right-hand side of the page.
  4. Click Export.mceclip0.png
  5. If applicable, use the What dropdown to choose between exporting only your current tab or the entire report.blobid0.png
  6. Under Format, choose CSV or XLS. Note, XLS is not available from Mentions View.
  7. Click Export.blobid1.png

Your export may take a few minutes. Meanwhile, you can navigate elsewhere in Falcon. The file will be downloaded automatically and saved as specified in your browser’s downloads location settings.

Exporting mentions as a CSV FIle

When exporting from Mentions View following the steps above, you will have the additional option to include either Currently loaded mentions or All mentions in daterange.

Choosing All mentions in daterange will automatically select CSV as the export format. If you choose to export your mentions as a CSV file, your file will be sent to the registered email address associated with your Falcon user.

Only a maximum of 1 million mentions can be included in your export, though we recommend a maximum of 100,000 mentions per export. If you attempt to export more than 1 million mentions, you will receive a notification both in the platform and in your email to specify that you have exceeded the limit. Only the oldest 1 million mentions will then be included in your export. To export more than 1 million mentions, consider exporting multiple shorter dateranges instead.

The mentions in your CSV export will be displayed with several column headers including: Content body, Content URL, Author username, Author gender, Location city, Network website, Content engagement rate, and more.

Tip:

The header Content language will be separated into ‘Content language 1’ and ‘Content language 2’. ‘Content language 1’ refers to how our language detection interpreted the language. ‘Content language 2’ refers to the language as defined by the content provider.

The header, Content sentiment score represents the content sentiment on a scale of –1 to 1. It determines how negative (-1), neutral (0), or positive (1) the content was interpreted.

Exporting Listen Projects as a PDF File

Apart from Monitoring View, you can export any area of Listen visually as a PDF file. You can choose between exporting only the current view or exporting the entire report. Please see the steps below along with the recommended settings for each browser:
